Today I noticed that I couldn’t upload any files using the Drag and Drop feature in SharePoint. I was sure that I had worked, so I tried starting Chrome to verify the feature was available. In Chrome the sentence: “new document or drag files here” was visible.
Then I opened a RDP connection to my test-server to see what was wrong. First I opened Internet Explorer and verified that I could upload through drag and drop. The option is available as you can see in the screenshot below.
The IE version was the same on the server as on my desktop. Version: 9.0.8.8112.16421.
Then I checked the add-ons. As you can see in the screenshot below, there was an add-on installed with a very clear name: SharePoint DragUpload Control
During the installation of SharePoint 2013, I decided that I wanted the full user experience. So I installed the Microsoft Office Preview. It seems the Microsoft Office Preview installs this add-on.
It seems you must have a HTML 5 browser or the Office 2013 add-on to be able to upload files using Drag and Drop.
